Most of us know Jason Mraz to be the sweet love song musician with the smash hit "I'm Yours". It was a great experience to share time with him at the Leaders Causing Leaders event this weekend. He talked about how he had such poor grades he couldn't even get into college and he worked as a janitor for years while he was teaching himself to play the guitar.
When I asked what was one thing that inspired his path, he said, 'my father told me the most important words of advice as a young kid -
If you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life."
and that is what I decided to do. He talked about how its never been about the money for him and he just does what he loves every day. That doesn't mean he always feel inspired though. He shared that something that inspires him more then anything else is connecting with his community. And that was something I could relate to in a big way. It is so essential to stay connected to a community of others, so when you get down, you have some where to turn and others to lift you back to your feet and show you how to fly again.

Last night I had the profound blessing to encounter a friend of mine at an ecstatic dance party in Ojai, CA. My friend had just returned from a full month in the forest with his friend, a journey into the depth of their beings they set out to encounter any blocks within their hearts that were preventing them from experiencing the fullness and richness of life on all levels. This type of seeking is most profound when we are able to escape the urban landscape and technological buzz of our residential lives and immerse ourselves into the tranquil and connective ambiance of nature in all of her wisdom and healing grace.
